Academic Success Center

Position Title: Peer Tutor, Academic Coach or Supplemental Instructor
Number of positions: 10

 

Position and Academic Success Center Overview:

Thank you for your interest in the Academic Success Center Tutor, Academic Coach, or Supplemental Instruction position.  We are excited to begin the selection process for these valuable positions.  This individual will have the responsibility of assisting the director of the Academic Success Center through either tutoring or academic coaching or providing supplemental instruction for a particular course offered at Louisburg College.

What is the Academic Success Center?

The Academic Success Center (ASC) provides academic support through trained peer tutors, academic coaches, or supplemental class instructors to students. The Academic Success Center is located inside the Cecil W. Robbins Library.

Student employees assist with specific course assignments and the development of college skills such as time management, study skills, and test preparation strategies. The ASC is a free service, open Sunday through Thursday at various hours, which are posted in Brightspace and directly on the door of the ASC.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participate in all Academic Success Center orientations, training, and meetings

  • Assist in the overall success and promotion of the Academic Success Center

  • Be familiar with how to use Bright Space, Microsoft Office, Google Docs

  • Be a positive role model and representative of Louisburg College by remaining committed to excellence, integrity, communication, and teamwork

  • Must be knowledgeable and able to demonstrate or coach on a particular academic subject (i.e. science, math, time management, etc.)

  • Be flexible with regards to working hours and conditions

  • Able to work evenings, weekdays, and weekends (Sundays)

  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

HOURS NEEDED & TIME COMMITMENT

  • Available to work 7-10 hours per week

  • Available to complete the Tutor Leadership Development course (Humanities 191)

  • Available to attend all staff meetings and all training (very important)

  • Available to work during the Louisburg College Reading Day and Final Exams

 Admissions

Position TitleAdmissions Assistant

Number of positions: 4

Hours needed:

  • The schedule is flexible.

  • May be required to work any hours Monday-Friday between 8:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

  • Approximately 6 hours a week

Duties:

  • Data entry, filing, mailing, sorting, alphabetizing, and errands

  • Answering phones, greeting guests, making phone calls

  • Typing Microsoft Word and Excel documents

  • Making copies, sending faxes, stamping folders, using a paper cutter

  • Carrying items to and from the storeroom

  • Complete other duties as assigned

Position requirements:

  • Preferred GPA of 3.0 or higher 

  • A positive attitude

  • Attention to detail

  • Ability to alphabetize

  • Readiness for work and efficiency with a computer.

Experience needed (if any): 

Someone with office or administrative experience who understands the importance of excellent customer service is preferred.

Position Title: Admissions Assistant

Number of positions: 4
Hours needed:
  • Approximately 6 hours a week

  • Monday-Friday; flexible schedule (between 8:30am - 5:00pm)

Duties:

Position Title: Student Ambassador

 

Hours Needed: Flexible hours (Monday - Friday 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.)

Summary:

The student ambassador is a key representative to students and parents who are considering Louisburg College. Excellent work ethic, reliability, and prompt attendance are essential. The ability to speak in front of large or small groups and to articulate the value of Louisburg College is important.

Essential Functions:

  • Sign up to cover campus tours.

  • Follow and be trained on a tour route.

  • Follow directions and be comfortable with change.

  • Availability to work on recruitment weekends to serve on student panels and give tours.

  • Assist the Admissions Team with set up for events.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn.

  • Excellent communication skills with competence in both oral and written English.

  • Ability to follow a system of rules and procedures and to pay attention to details.

 Art

Position Title:

Art Studio Coordinator

Number of positions: 1

Duties:

  • Lock doors and turn off lights in the art studio every evening.

  • Ensure that studio art students clean up after themselves every evening.

  • Ensure that the Art Building is clean and in order every evening.

  • Assist the visual arts faculty with organizing materials and equipment.

  • Manage Art Program's social media accounts; Post pictures and comments; Instagram/Facebook/X

Position requirements

  • Must be reliable and competent; must be capable of completing tasks under limited supervision.

  • Excellent communication skills. 

  • Able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.

  • Some tasks may be labor intensive and will include cleaning, sweeping, and maintaining the studio spaces. 

Experience needed (if any): No prior experience necessary - will train. 

Athletics

Position Title:

Athletic Training Student Assistant

Number of positions: 3 

Hours needed:

Assigned as needed for practice/game day set up by athletic training facility management

Duties:

  • Help with football practice hydration, i.e. water set-up and breakdown

  • Work with our athletic training staff on the field and in the athletic training room. The staff will teach the student how to tape and to use proper first aid skills. 

  • Be responsible for general upkeep, cleaning, and restocking of the athletic training room.

Position requirements: Able to lift water bottles and coolers, and able to tolerate outside work.

Experience needed (if any):

Past athletic training experience is a plus but not required.

Position Title:

Baseball Manager

Hours needed: Flexible

Duties:

  • Put dirty uniforms in the washer with appropriate detergent. Put clothes in dryers. Remove clothes from dryers and hang them in the appropriate lockers. There will be several loads of laundry.

  • Dust lockers. Vacuum clubhouse floor. Empty trash. Clean the dugouts and empty dugout trash.

  • Paint foul lines on the baseball field.

  • Perform other duties assigned by the coaching staff.

  • Assist with game-day operations such as keeping statistics. 

  • Be responsible for team laundry.

Position requirements: All applicants must have a strong work ethic.

Experience needed (if any): Ability to do laundry without assistance.

Position Title:

Cheerleading Assistant

Number of positions: 1

Hours needed:

Assigned as needed for practice/game day set up by head cheerleading coach.

Duties:

  • Responsible for taking notes during practice and games, helping organize events, keeping time during practice, organizing game themes, scheduling the practice, game, event and appearance calendar with the head cheerleading coach's approval. 

     

Position requirements: the ability to be organized and versatile, willing to pivot from project to project, basic cheerleading knowledge, willing to learn.

 

Position Title:

Cheerleading Gear Manager

Number of positions: 1

Hours needed:

Assigned as needed for practice/game day set up by head cheerleading coach 

Duties:

  • Responsible for packing and transporting gear to and from games, practices, and events. 

  • Responsible for the care of all gear including but not limited to poms, megaphones, signs, speakers, med bag, mascot suit, props, flags, shirts, shorts, uniform pieces, etc. 

Position requirements: Able to be organized, timely, and responsible while understanding the value of the gear they are responsible for. 

Position Title:

Cheerleading Marketing and Media

Number of positions: 1

Hours needed:

Assigned as needed for practice/game day set up by head cheerleading coach.

Duties:

  • Responsible for videoing all practices, games, and events for the team to break down the skills during film evaluation to teach and critique, as well as using the content to post to the social media platforms held by the cheerleading team. 

Position requirements: Able to work a camera, knowledge of google drive and editing as well as social media marketing.

Position Title:

Cross Country Manager

Number of positions: 2

Hours needed:

  • 6-8 hours per week, per student. 

  • MWF 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Duties:

  • Assist the coach and mark the course.

  • Wash the equipment.

  • Record practices and times, pace workouts.

  • File papers.

Position requirements: Knowledge of athletic and record times/splits.

Experience needed (if any): High school athletics - track/cross country preferred.
Position Title: Football Manager and Statistician 

Number of positions: 4

Hours needed:

  • M-F 3:00 p.m. -.7:00 p.m.
  • Saturday-11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Duties:

  • Complete practice field upkeep discarding all tape, bottles, and other debris.

  • Managers- are to film all practices and games, to do all laundry for the players, and to travel to all games.

  • Statistician- Be present at all games to record and input all game statistics into a laptop computer.  The game announcer will announce all home games from the press box and give play-by-play accounts and general information to spectators.

Position requirements

  • All applicants must have a strong work ethic. 

  • Teamwork is necessary, as the coach will assign various duties.  Willingness to complete any duty assigned by the head football coach is vital.

Experience needed (if any):

Knowledge of video camera usage and our statistics crew program as well as familiarity with doing laundry is ideal, but not mandatory.

Position Title

Softball Announcer/Scorekeeper

Number of positions: 1

Duties: 

  • Run the scoreboard during home contests.

  • Announce welcome, lineups, and anthem before the start of games.

  • Play walkup and warmup music throughout games.

  • Assist in the pre-game setup on home game days.

Position requirements:

  • Ability to communicate effectively with the coaching staff via email, phone, and/or text.

  • Punctuality and appropriate attire– a team-issued shirt, jeans without holes, khakis, yoga, or sweat pants. Work begins 30 minutes before the first pitch of the first game played that day. It concludes at the end of the last game of the day.

  • Availability on all home game dates - see schedule online at www.lchurricanes.com on the softball schedule page. Expect to work around 4-5 hours for a doubleheader.

  • Ability to accept fluctuating pay based on our schedule – light early in the spring and heavier as the semester progresses.

  • Familiarity with the game of softball.

  • Understanding of technology or the ability to learn how to use a laptop, camera, scoreboard buttons and, sound system. These skills are necessary to work the scoreboard and play warmup/walkout music.

  • Comfortable reading from a script and speaking into a microphone to a crowd.

Position Title:

Softball Team Manager

Number of positions: 1

Hours:

  • Frequently needed for early mornings and evenings with some afternoons involved.

Duties: 

  • Clean game uniforms removing dirt and grass stains.

  • Hang to dry, fold garments and return to players’ lockers.

  • Help assist in the pre-game setup on home game days.

  • Complete other duties as assigned by the coach.

Position requirements:

  • Effective communication with the coaching staff via email, phone, and/or text

  • Flexibility in hours, the capability of time management, and the ability to prioritize.

Position Title:

Men’s Soccer Assistant

Number of positions:   3

Hours needed:

  • Monday- Saturday

  • Hours vary depending on practice and game times.

Duties:

  • Field maintenance handling equipment structure while providing inventory updates.

  • Clean the locker room and practice equipment when needed.

  • Assist in pre and post-game day operations.

  • Assist with providing and compiling match reports.

  • Complete other duties as assigned by the soccer department staff.

Position requirements: Punctuality, demonstration of a positive attitude, and a good work ethic.

Experience needed (if any):  No experience needed.

Position Title: Position Title:

Women's Soccer Assistant

Number of positions: 3

Hours needed:

  • Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday

  • 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Duties:

  • Update game statistics and complete paperwork.

  • Maintain soccer fields by keeping trash off the fields.

  • Assist with laundry.

  • Be the team liaison and assist with game-day preparations.

  • Return water coolers and bottles to the training room. 

  • Clean the bus after travel.

  • Assist in creating recruiting logs and profiles, 

Position requirements:  The ability to make sound decisions is important.

Experience needed (if any): Experience using computers, Microsoft Excel, and Word is necessary besides experience using industrial washing machines, and dryers. 

Position Title:

Sports Information Aid

Number of positions:   1

Hours needed:

  • Hours vary with sporting events

Duties:

  • Attend some sporting events and take pictures.

  • Assist with media releases and website maintenance.

Position requirements:

A cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher is required. Besides, the individual must have the capability of doing physical labor and willing to work flexible hours on nights and weekends. The applicant needs to have good communication skills, to be reliable, and flexible.

Experience needed (if any):  Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is necessary. The applicant should have some knowledge of the various sports about which they are reporting.

Position Title:

Volleyball Administrative Assistant

Number of positions:   1

Duties:

  • Make copies and prepare documents using Microsoft Word.

  • Prepare reports and statistics using Microsoft Excel. 

  • Help coordinate events such as games, Hurricane Scholar Athlete Night, Hall of Fame, etc.

  • Applicants must be reliable, prompt, and express a positive attitude and personality.

  •  One must demonstrate the ability to complete tasks with little supervision, to be able to work in a busy and fast-paced environment with distractions and to take directions well. 

  • Applicants must have strong, sharp computer skills.

  • One must enjoy working with student-athletes.

Position Title: Esports Facility Manager

Number of positions: 1

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Thank you for your interest in the Facilities Manager position. As our esports facility manager, you will be responsible for maintaining the overall space. This position is hiring for an organization minded person with good time management skills. This position will work closely with our stream manager, social creators, and the head coach to keep the facility operating at peak efficiency and minimizing downtime for updates and maintenance on equipment.  

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain esports PCs and other equipment including updates and troubleshooting issues

  • Maintain the physical space. 

  • Help players with minor issues while using the equipment. 

  • Closing down the facility at the end of the day. 

  • Speaking with visitors and potential recruits about esports.

  • Be flexible with regards to working hours and conditions

  • Other duties as assigned

Position Title:

Bookstore/Office Services Assistant

Duties:

  • Use a cash register, one-card, and credit card machine

  • Straighten and stock shelves

  • Assist with counting inventory as needed

  • Assist customers with signing out mailroom packages

Business Office

Position Title:

Student Assistant

Duties:

  • Folding and stuffing statements into envelopes

  • Assist with various office duties

  • Enter parking permits into the system

  • Help the Human Resource Director develop an archived records management system and organize currently archived files

  • Complete special project work as needed

  • Prepare New Employee Orientation kits

  • Assist in preparing for the fall open enrollment process which includes copying, creating, and distributing information packets

CHAPEL

Position Title: Administrative Assistant

Number of positions: 3

Hours needed:

  • 6 hours a week

  • Sunday-Friday; flexible schedule (8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.)

Duties:

  • Prepare weekly bulletins for worship and printed material for other events as needed

  • Ensuring worship space, conference room and, lobby are tidy and ready for use 

  • Serve as liaison between the chaplain and the student body when the chaplain is not available by taking messages, helping set appointments, answering general inquiries, and referring matters timely to the chaplain.

  • Filing and record-keeping of minutes and other documentation for Gather: Louisburg College Spiritual Life Program

  • Promoting and participating in events sponsored by the Gather, such as Weekly Worship, Bible Studies, and Other Community Engaging Events

  • Complete other duties as assigned

  • If you are passionate about engaging or leading some other way spiritually - inquire with the chaplain about implementing new opportunities and duties.

  • Participate in the Choir during weekly Gather Worship on Tuesday at 11:00

  • Coordinate alongside chaplain and choir director to choose music for services

  • Ensure worship space, conference room, and lobby are tidy and ready for use

  • Promote and participate in events sponsored by Gather, such as weekly worship, Bible Studies, and Other Events

Communications

Position Title: Content Creator

Position and Content Creator Overview:

Thank you for your interest in being a Content Creator for Louisburg College. As an LC Content Creator, you will be responsible for creating content for the College’s social media accounts. The position will work to develop strategic, student-focused social media plans and gather content through interviews, photography, videography, and more.

Duties:

  • Develop weekly, monthly, and yearly social media content directed towards engaging student body.

  • Attending occasional games and events on campus to provide live coverage.

  • Help tell the story of Louisburg College.

  • Photography, videography, and design.

  • Interviews, podcasts, and blogging.

  • Be flexible with regards to working hours and conditions

  • Able to work evenings, weekdays, and weekends (Sundays)

  • Other duties as assigned

Counseling Center

Position Title:

Counseling Center Assistant

Number of positions:  1

Hours needed:

  • Hours are flexible based on the student's academic schedule.

Duties:

  • Record data by hand and on computer

  • Put posters up around campus

  • Assist with set up and tear down for activities

  • Answer phone and take messages

  • File, copy, sort, staple, organize

  • Run simple errands on campus

  • On-line research on various mental health topics

  • Assist with CHOICES Program as needed

Position requirements:

  • Ability to work independently

  • Highly accurate and detailed in work assignments

Financial Aid

Position Title:

Financial Aid Assistant

Number of positions:  2

Hours needed:

  • Hours are flexible based on the student's academic schedule.

Duties:

  • Answer the phone, greet visitors and students

  • Make labels, create folders, make copies, file

  • Enter document tracking on student accounts

  • Help with special mailing projects

Position requirements:

Human Resources

Position Title:

  • Variety of clerical and office duties - filing, making copies, mailers which include labels

Position requirements:

IT (Information technology) 

Position Title:

Student Assistant for Information Services

Number of Positions: 1

Hours Needed: 

  • 4 - 6 hours a week

  • Flexible schedule

Job Description:  

  • Complete weekly rounds checking the working status of computers and printers in the labs and reporting problems to the Director of IT. 

  • Perform routine maintenance -keyboards, mice, software updates- on computers in computer labs. 

  • Enter repairable items into the School Spiceworks database and post out of order signs on the computers.

  • Image and update college computer software.

  • Organizing cabinets and workspaces. 

  • Routine clerical tasks

  • Assist with moving and placing computers as needed. 

  • Other duties as assigned

  •  Proficiency in basic clerical skills 

  • Willingness to use work time to learn and expand one’s knowledge.

Science Department

Position Title

Science Lab Assistant

Number of positions: 3

Hours needed:

  • Any 6 hours a week between 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. except noon hours M-F and Friday’s after 2 p.m.

Duties:

  • Organize drawers and shelves in prep rooms and laboratories - make sure that what is in the drawer appears on the label on the outside of the drawer and make new labels as needed

  • Wash the glassware making sure that there is no visible residue, ensure the bottles have correct lids, and put washed glassware away.

  • Assist with set-up and tear down of labs for the week. This could include working alongside the Lab Director, preparing solutions, and dealing with chemical waste.

  • Maintain proper care of costly glassware and other scientific equipment.

Duties:

  • Enforce rules and regulations of the weight room and cardio room

    • Picking up weights

    • Cleaning cardio and weight room equipment

  • Report any broken or malfunctioning equipment to appropriate personnel.

  • Make sure all equipment is being used properly and safely without horseplay

  • Make sure only Louisburg College students, faculty, and staff are using the weight and cardio rooms

  3. Check items upon return to make sure there are no damages

  4. Arrive 5 minutes before your shift begins
